Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and oral surgery treatments with precision and professionalism.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all materials are ready for patient care.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring adherence to infection prevention protocols and radiation safety standards.
- Perform chairside assisting duties including taking vital signs, explaining procedures to patients, and providing comfort throughout treatment.
- Process dental instruments following sterilization procedures in accordance with infection control standards to prevent cross-contamination.
- Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical histories, and guiding patients through post-treatment care instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by adhering to infection prevention management practices and aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team in four-handed dentistry setups for efficient workflow and optimal patient outcomes.
- Assist with dental imaging procedures using advanced equipment such as 3D scanners when necessary for comprehensive diagnostics.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix enhances workflow efficiency and record accuracy.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to operate dental equipment safely and effectively while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Experience in medical documentation, medical records management, and healthcare infection prevention is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations ensures compliance with patient privacy standards.
- Prior exposure to dental sterilization procedures, X-ray techniques, and medical imaging supports high-quality patient care delivery.
