JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Transportation Dispatcher
Reports to: Director of Transportation
Status: Full-time - Exempt
Yearly Salary: $65,000 - $75,000
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS ? Responsibilities include and are not limited to:
- Possess a valid driver?s license and ability to obtain a valid CDL with additional endorsements preferred.
- Consistently render the best customer satisfaction to the public, through a well-trained staff, and product availability.
- Must productively multitask and efficiently navigate industry specific software.
- Utilize various in-truck technologies to help in the prevention of inefficiencies or safety concerns.
- Promote a culture of safety on a daily basis through trainings, providing information and knowledge to employees about DEC and environmental safety measures and procedures; making sure employees follow all DOT, DEC and company compliance 100% of the time.
- Schedule loads while utilizing and maximizing available driver hours and loaded miles.
- Identify priorities; utilize available resources effectively to meet these priorities; anticipate change and/or problems and reallocate resources when necessary.
- Adjust forecasted loads based on sales and market trends.
- Communicate effectively with customers and drivers providing concise instruction or information.
- Develop relationships with customers and drivers; utilize relationships to influence others and gain willing cooperation.
- Manage and maintain daily exception report.
- Maintain the delivery drivers schedule and forecast workload.
- Maintain customer database with current information.
- Provide oneself with a reliable means of transportation to and from work and the ability to be reached by telephone.
- Conduct clear and concise communications with department managers, employees and customers.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures 100% of the time
RESPONSIBILITIES ? Responsibilities include and are not limited to:
- Take incoming customer calls and dispatch in a timely basis including after hours and weekends.
- Ensure that all pre and post trip inspections and compliance measures are being done in accordance with State, Federal and companywide policies.
- Schedule and coordinate all delivery calls as calls are received.
- Create dispatch ticket for all delivery requests and respond to all messages left overnight.
- Dispatch Drivers and debrief them after completion of each call.
- Compare driver timecards and work orders.
- Ensure the economic use of company supplies, resources and assets.
- Comply with company dress code 100% of the time.
- Maintain confidentiality 100% of the time in regards to customer and company information.
- Perform work functions within all safety guidelines at all times.
- Reports to work with minimal absenteeism or tardiness.
- Attend job related training and informational seminars as requested.
- Performs other job related activities and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS ? Qualifications include and are not limited to:
- Must be self-motivated, self-starter, results driven individual with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- 2-5 years industry specific experience preferred
- Possess a high school/vocational school diploma or G.E.D. and related certification.
