The MTNA Rainsville facility is seeking a 2nd Shift Injection Molding Team Leader that will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of the injection molding department to ensure efficient production of plastic components that meet quality and safety standards. This role manages associates, monitors production schedules, and ensures that all processes run smoothly in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate activities of all shift associates involved in injection molding operations.
- Ensure production targets, cycle times, and quality standards are consistently met.
- Plan and adjust work assignments and equipment to meet production demands.
- Monitor machine efficiency, output, and downtime and take corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee mold changes, machine setups, and startup procedures to ensure correct configuration.
- Troubleshoot process issues (short shots, flash, burn marks, etc.) and collaborate with engineers or technicians for resolution.
- Ensure process parameters are maintained according to established standards and documentation.
- Enforce compliance with quality standards and conduct regular visual and dimensional inspections.
- Identify quality defects and implement corrective actions in coordination with the quality team.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, PPE usage, and OSHA requirements.
- Promote and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Conduct daily shift meetings to communicate goals, updates, and safety alerts.
- Maintain accurate records of production data, machine settings, maintenance issues, and quality checks.
- Generate daily production reports and communicate shift performance to management.
- Support audits and provide necessary documentation related to molding operations.
Qualifications/Skills:
- 3–5 years of experience in plastic injection molding in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
- 2+ years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Strong knowledge of injection molding machines.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and process sheets.
- Experience with mold troubleshooting, process optimization, and basic maintenance.
- Familiarity with ERP or MES systems for production tracking.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and various materials.
- Requires standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Shifts may include days, evenings, or weekends.
