Position Summary:
The Activity Aide is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and implementing of activity programs designed to meet the social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of residents in a skilled nursing facility. The Activity Aide promotes resident participation and enhances quality of life through meaningful activities and engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and conducting individual and group activities such as games, arts and crafts, music, exercise, and social events.
Encourage residents to participate in scheduled programs and activities.
Provide one-on-one visits and activities for residents unable or unwilling to attend group activities.
Transport or escort residents to and from activities and special events.
Set up and clean activity areas before and after events.
Assist in decorating the facility for holidays, special occasions, and themed events.
Maintain activity supplies and notify supervisor when inventory is low.
Document resident attendance, participation, and responses to activities as required.
Observe and report changes in residents’ physical, emotional, or mental condition to nursing staff or supervisor.
Assist with community outings and special entertainment events as assigned.
Follow all facility policies and procedures, including infection control and safety guidelines.
Maintain resident confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience in long-term care, activities, recreation, or customer service preferred.
Experience working with elderly residents or dementia residents is a plus.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Basic computer and documentation skills preferred.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to push wheelchairs and transport residents safely.
Ability to participate in physical activities and events.

Work Environment:
This position works in a healthcare environment with exposure to residents with various physical and cognitive limitations. Compliance with all health, safety, and infection control policies is required.
