Domestic Violence Court Advocate
Duties and Responsibilities Provides court advocacy services to victims of domestic violence/menacing/stalking and assault in Lucas and Ottawa Counties. Assists victims with filing Temporary or Civil Protection Orders. Notifies victims of court dates, tracks cases, attends arraignments and subsequent court proceedings with the victim, and acts as a liaison between the victim and the criminal justice system.
Provides emotional support, crisis intervention, lethality assessment, safety planning, information and referral, and assistance with social services, law enforcement, and prosecutors throughout the entire pendency of the case. Documents client contact in accordance with agency policy and procedures
Maintains accurate and consistent client records and statistics.
Inputs data into the DV database and compiles monthly statistical reports.
Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice or other human service related work. Strong communication and organizational skills.
Proficient in use of Access database and internet.
Experience in public speaking and community collaborations. Valid driver’s license, availability of an automobile, and proof of liability insurance.
Compensation: $17.00hr, Non-Exempt, 40 hr./wk., Monday thru Friday, Health and Medical benefits available, IRA, Travel Reimbursements, PTO package, and 11 paid holidays.
