Custom Metal Fabrication Shop Assistant – Waterjet Operator

A premier engineering shop specializing in sanitary design for the food industry is looking for a skilled and motivated Waterjet Operator & Shop Assistant to join our dynamic production team. This role is ideal for someone with fabrication experience who enjoys operating advanced cutting equipment and supporting a fast-paced metalworking environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Set up, operate, and monitor waterjet cutting systems to produce precision parts from stainless steel and other materials
- Assist fabricators and welders with daily shop operations, material staging, and workflow support
- Safely operate forklifts to move, organize, and stage raw materials, parts, and finished assemblies throughout the shop
- Operate press brake machines to perform accurate bending and forming of metal components
- Use various cutting machines (saws, shears, etc.) to prepare materials for fabrication
- Load and unload materials safely, including heavy stainless steel sheets and components
- Perform routine maintenance on waterjet equipment, including abrasive delivery systems and high-pressure components
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all shop safety procedures and strict quality control standards
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial shop environment
- Hands-on experience operating waterjet, press brake, forklift, and/or industrial cutting equipment
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and cutting specifications
- Familiarity with stainless steel materials and sanitary fabrication standards (a plus)
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented with strong attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license (Class C) – clean driving record required (for occasional material runs)
