Position: Director of Operations
Reports To: Chief Operations Officer (or Franchise Leadership)
Location: Greater Twin Cities market
Summary:
The primary function of a Director of Operations is to assume full responsibility for all operations in their respective region. This includes cultivating kindness with every customer and team member they encounter across all assigned Regions while ensuring each Regional Manager’s assigned Stands are consistently upholding 7 Brew’s culture, mission statement, and values. The Director of Operations is responsible for leading, supporting, and developing Regional Managers to ensure strong, profitable operations across multiple locations and continued growth of the business. They maintain deep connections with their Regional Managers and hold them accountable for doing the same with their Stand Managers and their teams while recognizing and adapting to the unique needs of each location. In addition to regular regional site visits, the Director of Operations provides consistent coaching, training, and oversight to their Regional Managers to ensure operational excellence, leadership development, and brand standards are achieved at all times. All positions begin with a 6-month probationary period.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Must be proficient in all Region Manager, Stand Manager, Brewista Lead, and Brewista duties and skill sets.
- Continuously coaches, develops, and holds Regional Managers accountable for operational execution, team culture, performance results, and leadership development, including providing regular feedback and guidance to help them support their Stand Managers and build future leaders.
- Works with the COO to scale the business and ensure consistency from location to location.
- Develops and implements needed updates to standards and policies by working with and obtaining feedback from the various field level employees and managers as well as the COO.
- Works with the New Stand Opening Managers, Regional Managers, Development and Maintenance crew, all other departments as necessary to ensure successful new stand openings and to ensure all maintenance issues at all stands are being resolved in a timely manner.
- Monitors and drives financial performance, including labor and cost of goods sold, ensuring profitability across all assigned Regions/locations.
- Ensures that Regional Managers properly review and approve schedules created by Stand Managers to ensure proper staffing, cost control, and operational efficiency.
- Attend city or county council meetings and any planning and zoning meetings as necessary and communicate with relevant authority figures with guidance and approval of the COO.
- Establishes a positive and constructive relationship with 7 Brew Corporate reps to ensure Brand consistency.
- Works with the Marketing team to drive success of new promotions / incentives.
- Makes high level decisions with the success of the business in mind.
- Ensures customer reviews are being resolved quickly and accurately.
- Works with HR, Accounting, and Payroll to help ensure proper pay, tips, and bonuses are processed every pay period.
- Ensures inventory processes are followed in all their Region’s stands, minimizing waste and maintaining accuracy in ordering and counts.
- Leads by example. No job is too big or too small.
- Ensures that Regional Managers uphold and audit proper cash-handling procedures, including deposits and controls, at all locations.
- Conducts regular stand visits to observe operations, provide real-time coaching, and ensure adherence to brand standards.
- Addresses escalated issues and supports problem-solving in partnership with Regional Managers, Stand Managers, vendors, and leadership.
- Ensures all Regional Managers keep their locations prepared for health inspections and compliant with all operational standards.
- Ensures all Regional Managers keep their locations staffed and prepared for any turnover that may happen by maintaining bench plans for all management levels at all times and assisting with interviewing, hiring, or promoting new employees as needed. This is key to ensuring their stands are able to remain compliant with all operational standards even during transitional time frames.
- Promotes and reinforces a strong team culture across all Regions through consistent communication, recognition, and engagement.
- Leads and participates in Regional meetings, trainings, and operational initiatives.
- Promptly implements and communicates directives from company leadership.
Work Schedule Requirements:
- Works a flexible schedule, which can include early mornings (5 a.m.) and late nights (11:30 p.m.).
- Works a minimum of 45–50 hours per week over at least 5 days each week, based on business needs.
- Must maintain a presence in the field across all assigned stands, including regular visits during peak and off-peak hours. (50% or more of your time should be spent visiting the various stands throughout your assigned Regions)
- Must work weekends as needed to support operations, including either Saturday or Sunday each week.
- Must work all special “promo” days (e.g., “Jackpot Day” on the 7th of each month).
- Must be available to respond promptly to operational needs across all assigned Regions and their locations, unless on approved time off.
- Must attend regional and company-wide operations meetings as required.
- Must ensure coverage plans are in place as needed across all Regions during any time off.
- Must request time off at least 14 days in advance for approval.
- Any deviations from these requirements must be approved in advance by leadership.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven leadership abilities managing multiple locations and large teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of operational metrics, labor management, and cost controls.
- Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Ability to learn and utilize multiple web-based platforms for scheduling, reporting, and operations.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and develop leaders at multiple levels.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to maintain a high level of awareness across multiple regions of locations simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage all personality types.
- Ability to problem-solve and make sound decisions quickly in high-pressure situations.
- Capable of working in outdoor environments and varied weather conditions.
- Ability to travel regularly between assigned locations.
- Ability to obtain a passing score of 100 on applicable tests every six months.
Physical Requirements:
- Can lift up to 50lbs.
- Can team-lift items up to 100 lbs.
- Can stand and/or sit comfortably for up to 8 hours at a time.
- Can climb a ladder that is up to 12 ft tall and use a step ladder.
- Can stand, sit, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as necessary to stock and clean in the stand.
- Can safely walk between and around cars in the drive thru lanes.
- Can safely use a utility knife.
