Music Director: We seek an organist and choir director to support vibrant worship in a community that treasures music. West Concord Union Church is an inclusive, creative Christian community that empowers spiritual renewal and community engagement. We have a William Stevens seventeen-rank tracker-action organ (1869), a Steinway model-b concert grand (2002), and a Mason & Hamlin grand (1929), all well-maintained. The position is roughly 15 hours/week, with Sunday mornings required. Salary is $40,000–$48,000 depending on experience. The Music Director supports and coordinates the musical life of the congregation including congregational, choral, and instrumental music.
The Music Director reports to the Pastor.
Part-time salaried position, 15 hours/week on average; salary $40,000-48,000 depending on experience. 4 weeks paid vacation.
Essential Functions:
1. Plan and lead music on Sunday mornings (service at 9:45 a.m.) and during special services in collaboration with the Pastor, including prelude, offertory, and postlude selections, accompaniment of hymns, and support of liturgical action (e.g. playing during communion). Arrange for a substitute musician when unable to be present.
2. Recruit, train, schedule and direct adult and bell choirs, soloists and instrumentalists. Hold regular rehearsals; encourage and develop musically interested church members.
3. Supervise and support additional music staff, such as the Director of Young People’s Music or Sunday Fellowship Musician.
4. Plan and oversee special musical programs within and beyond worship services in cooperation with other staff and volunteers. These may include Special Music Sundays (twice a year), Epiphany Pageants (one rehearsal) and up to two other special events (talent shows, etc.)
5. Coordinate, lead, and develop the overall music ministry of the Church including goal setting, budgeting, instrument maintenance, and music library upkeep.

· Fees for weddings and funerals are payable to the Music Director. The Music Director has right of first refusal for all such services with the exception of those connected with Sunday Fellowship.
