Member Duties : The Marine & Outdoor Youth Survival Educator supports AMSEA in delivering hands-on, experiential marine safety education for K–12 youth and, when approved, other Alaska communities. Coordinate and co-facilitate programs teaching cold-water survival, shore survival, shelter building, radio use, emergency signaling, fire starting, and personal/vessel survival kit building. Duties include adapting activities for different age groups, coordinating logistics with schools and youth organizations, and supporting volunteer recruitment and follow-up. The member contributes to outreach projects, curricula, and materials that reflect local and Indigenous knowledge, and provides grant-supporting stories and documentation without managing proposals. Additional responsibilities include assisting with AMSEA classes in a non-staff-replacement role, completing data entry and program documentation, maintaining gear and inventory, and aiding special projects aligned with AMSEA’s mission.
