Position Overview:
Manchaca Metals is looking for a dependable, customer-oriented Steel Sales / Front Counter Customer Service Representative to join our team. This role focuses on assisting customers at the front counter, processing sales, answering the phone with request following up on quotes, preparing quotes, and providing light drafting and estimating support for steel fabrication projects.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has strong attention to detail who is interested in learning the steel and fabrication industry and looking to strengthen their skills.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist walk-in customers with steel products and quick quotes.
- Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries professionally.
- Prepare accurate quotes, follow through and process sales orders, and invoices.
- Recommend products based on customer needs.
- Read customer drawings and perform basic material takeoffs.
- Assist with light drafting and estimating for small to medium fabrication projects.
- Coordinate with vendors and shop personnel to ensure timely order fulfillment - cut orders, etc.
- Build strong relationships with contractors, fabricators, and repeat customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Customer service or inside sales experience.
- Experience in the steel, construction, manufacturing, welding, or industrial supply industry is preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints or fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Sketchup or similar drafting software is required.
- Basic estimating or material takeoff experience is a plus.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
