Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Commercial Equipment Collision Repair Technician to join our team. In this role, you will perform high-quality repairs on heavy-duty commercial vehicles and equipment, including semi-trucks, trailers, buses, construction machinery, agricultural equipment, and other large fleet assets. You will restore damaged equipment to manufacturer specifications while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency in a fast-paced shop environment.
Key Responsibilities

Perform complete collision repairs on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and off-road equipment, including structural repairs, frame straightening, panel replacement, and alignment.

Repair or replace body panels, bumpers, hoods, grilles, and other exterior components.

Prepare surfaces for painting, mix and apply high-performance coatings, and perform color matching.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems affected by collisions.

Utilize frame alignment machines, bench systems, and computerized measuring tools to restore OEM specifications.

Inspect and test repaired equipment to ensure proper function and roadworthiness.

Maintain accurate repair documentation, photos, and service records.

Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and hazardous material handling.

Collaborate with parts department, estimators, and other technicians to complete repairs efficiently.
Required Skill Set & Qualifications

Technical Expertise:
-
Minimum 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in heavy-duty collision repair (Class 6–8 trucks, trailers, or heavy equipment preferred).

Strong working knowledge of frame and undercarriage repair using modern alignment systems.

Experience with refinishing systems, paint mixing, and application (certification a plus).

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, service manuals, and schematic diagrams.

Familiarity with hydraulic, air brake, suspension, and electrical systems on commercial equipment.

Tools & Equipment:

Proficient with collision repair tools, including plasma cutters, dent pullers, jacks, lifts, and diagnostic scanners.

Experience with computerized measuring systems (e.g., Car-O-Liner, Spanesi, or similar).

Certifications (Preferred):

ASE Certification (Medium/Heavy Truck or Collision Repair).

I-CAR or equivalent collision repair training.

Manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Freightliner, Peterbilt, Caterpillar, John Deere).

Ability to work independently or as part of a team under time constraints.

Good communication skills and professional customer interaction when needed.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL a plus).
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in various positions (standing, bending, kneeling).

Comfort working in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals.
