Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and facility systems to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role works under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and supports preventative maintenance programs, equipment uptime, and overall operational reliability.
Key responsibilities:
Preventative & Routine Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on machinery and facility systems.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
- Assist in maintaining maintenance schedules developed by the Maintenance Manager.
Repairs & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing issues.
- Repair or replace faulty equipment components in a timely manner.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
Equipment Support
- Assist with installation, setup, and testing of new equipment.
- Maintain tools and ensure proper usage and care.
- Work with vendors or contractors when needed under supervision.
Safety Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify and report safety hazards or unsafe conditions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Accurately complete work orders and maintenance logs.
- Communicate equipment issues and repair status to the Maintenance Manager.
- Utilize maintenance tracking systems as required.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with production teams to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Support team members and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
- Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
- 1–3+ years of maintenance or industrial experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment issues effectively.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.

Work Environment:
- Custom Forest Products is a pallet production company whereby the production department is not climate controlled. It will require PPEs. The majority of the shift will require walking. The production area conditions are typical of any lumber mill production facility to include sawdust, machine noise, steam activated tools and heavy lifting.
