Join our dental team as an Orthodontic Dental Assistant-RDA/OAP, where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and streamline orthodontic treatments. Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontist during procedures such as bracket placement, adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and efficiency.
- Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention protocols.
- Take dental X-rays and 3D scans, ensuring high-quality imaging for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records using Ortho2 software, ensuring all medical documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices to promote successful treatment outcomes.
- Support dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to uphold the highest standards of infection control within the clinic.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team through four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques specific to orthodontics, including handling dental instruments and appliances.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures related to orthodontics.
- Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, intraoral scanners (including 3D scanners), and medical imaging devices.
- Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention protocols and sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Ability to navigate patient management software to effectively handle scheduling and record keeping.
- Excellent understanding of medical documentation standards including HIPAA compliance and medical coding practices.
- Effective communication skills for patient care coordination as a dental receptionist or front desk support within a busy clinic setting.
