Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
Gansevoort Meatpacking is seeking a polished, energetic, and hospitality-driven Host/Hostess to join our Food & Beverage team.
As the first and last point of contact for our guests, the Host plays an important role in creating a welcoming and memorable dining experience. The ideal candidate is personable, organized, confident, and comfortable working in a fast-paced luxury hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome and greet all guests upon arrival.
- Manage reservations, waitlists, and table assignments accurately and efficiently.
- Answer incoming telephone calls professionally and assist with reservation inquiries.
- Confirm reservations and communicate special requests, celebrations, allergies, and VIP information to the appropriate team members.
- Escort and seat guests while maintaining awareness of table availability and server sections.
- Maintain an organized and accurate seating chart and reservation system.
- Coordinate closely with servers, bartenders, managers, and other team members to ensure smooth service flow.
- Provide guests with accurate information regarding menus, operating hours, hotel amenities, events, and other property offerings.
- Recognize VIPs, repeat guests, and special occasions and communicate relevant information to management and service teams.
- Assist with guest concerns and requests, escalating matters to management when necessary.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance of the host stand and entrance areas.
- Assist with coat check, guest belongings, and other arrival or departure needs as required.
- Support special events, private functions, and other Food & Beverage operations as business needs require.
- Follow all company policies, service standards, safety procedures, and grooming requirements.
- Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned by management to support business and operational needs.
Qualifications
- Previous Host, Guest Services, restaurant, hotel, or luxury hospitality experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Warm, professional, and confident presence.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Experience with restaurant reservation systems preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, colleagues, and management.
- Must be dependable and committed to maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
Schedule Requirements
Candidates must have flexible availability and be able to work a schedule that may include days, evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays based on business and operational needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to move throughout the restaurant and hotel as needed.
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform other physical activities associated with restaurant operations.
Attendance & Reliability
Dependable attendance is an essential function of this position. Team Members are expected to report to work on time, in proper uniform, prepared for duty, and ready to begin work at the scheduled start time. Team Members must promptly notify management in accordance with company policy if they will be late, absent, or otherwise unable to work as scheduled.
