General Summary
The Public Affairs, Marketing & Community Events Coordinator is primarily responsible for creating and executing digital marketing strategies to inform, advertise, and attract public interest. This position manages the organization’s social media platforms, monitors and engages with the online community, and analyzes engagement data to identify trends in participant interaction. Additionally, this role coordinates community events that strengthen public engagement, enhance brand visibility, and support the Authority’s mission.

Please note: The Housing Authority of Bexar County is not part of Bexar County government. We are a separate local housing authority.
This is an entry-level Coordinator position with a pay range of $22.00 to $25.00 per hour.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Digital Marketing & Communications
- Develop and implement social media strategies that strengthen the Authority’s brand, messaging, and audience
engagement.
- Create, schedule, publish, and manage engaging social media content across relevant platforms.
- Monitor social media performance, analyze trends and audience insights, and recommend strategies to improve reach, engagement, and impact.
- Establish, track, and report on performance goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) for social media and digital marketing campaigns.
- Research emerging digital marketing and social media trends, tools, and best practices and recommend opportunities for the Authority.
- Develop and maintain content strategies, editorial calendars, and messaging plans across digital channels.
- Plan, execute, and manage email marketing campaigns, including copywriting, audience segmentation, scheduling, testing, deployment, and database management.
- Write, proofread, and edit marketing and communications content to ensure accuracy, consistency, clarity, and
alignment with the Authority’s brand voice.
- Design and produce marketing collateral, including brochures, pamphlets, digital graphics, branded materials, and promotional tools.
- Manage the design, content, functionality, and ongoing maintenance of the Authority’s website, ensuring information
is current, accessible, and aligned with organizational objectives.
- Coordinate digital marketing and communications projects with internal teams, vendors, and external partners as needed.
- Apply knowledge of modern office procedures, technology, software, and digital communications tools to support marketing and communications activities.
Community Engagement & Event Coordination
- Plan, coordinate, and execute community events and outreach activities that promote the Authority’s programs,
services, initiatives, and priorities.
- Develop event plans, timelines, logistics, promotional strategies, budgets, and related materials to ensure successful execution.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Authority’s programs, services, initiatives, and resources to accurately
communicate information and connect community members with appropriate services and opportunities.
- Serve as an official representative of the Authority at community meetings, outreach events, public functions, and other external engagements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, businesses, nonprofits, civic groups, sponsors,
and other partners to expand the Authority’s reach and strengthen community connections.
- Identify opportunities to connect the Authority’s programs and services with community needs, organizations, and
potential partners.
- Serve as a liaison with vendors, venues, community partners, sponsors, stakeholders, and participating organizations to coordinate event and outreach activities.
- Coordinate event logistics, including venue arrangements, vendor services, materials, staffing, setup, on-site operations, and breakdown.
- Develop and implement promotional and outreach efforts for events and initiatives through digital campaigns, email marketing, media outreach, and community communications.
- Engage with community members, answer questions, provide accurate information about Authority programs and services, and direct individuals to appropriate resources or staff when needed.
- Gather community feedback and identify emerging needs, concerns, and opportunities to inform outreach strategies
and improve the effectiveness of the Authority’s programs and communications.
- Track event participation, engagement, partnerships, and feedback; evaluate results and recommend improvements to future outreach and engagement efforts.
Administrative & Operational Responsibilities
· Organize and maintain both paper and electronic files with accuracy and efficiency.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in written communications, digital content, marketing materials, event planning, and other public-facing materials.
· Ability to establish priorities, work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and handle sensitive or potentially difficult interactions professionally.
· Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners to achieve organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications
· Associate Degree in Marketing, Communications or Public Relations with three (3) years of work experience in marketing, website content, or social media platforms to include but not limited to: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, others.
· Proficient in Microsoft programs.
· Must be able to work late, weekends and/or holidays.
· Have an active driver license and be eligible for coverage under the HABC fleet auto insurance.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or Public Relations with two (2) years of work experience in marketing, website content, or social media platforms to include but not limited to: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, others.
· Bilingual in English/Spanish.
Supervisory Controls
· The employee has no supervisory responsibilities.
· Routine duties are initiated by the employee without supervisory direction, and instructions to the employee may be general or specific in nature.
· Problems or situations not covered by instructions are usually referred to the supervisor for resolution.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
· Work is principally sedentary, but may involve some physical exertion, such as kneeling, crouching, or lifting to obtain files and records, and eye strain from working with computers and other office equipment.
· Work involves the normal risks and discomforts associated with an office environment, but are usually in an area that is adequately cooled, heated, lighted, and ventilated.
· Position requires the need to sit, stand, bend and/or stretch for extended periods.
· Requires lifting, carrying and/or pushing up to 10 pounds.
· Occasional travel to various work locations in all weather conditions.
· Frequent repetitive hand movement (e.g., typing).
