Job Summary
The Laborer performs preventive maintenance and repairs on shipyard equipment and supports daily operations to ensure equipment reliability and workplace safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance and repair of shipyard equipment.

Ensure all work meets required specifications and quality standards.

Prepare and maintain safe and organized job sites.

Follow and explain lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures in accordance with safety regulations.

Interpret specifications, blueprints, and maintenance requests as needed.
-
Complete repairs to help reduce maintenance backlog.
-
Assist and provide direction to lower-level mechanics when required.

Operate vehicles and equipment including fuel trucks, forklifts, and service vehicles.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to identify and properly use basic hand tools.

Understanding of both standard and metric measurement systems, including ability to perform basic conversions without a calculator.
