Duties
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations for patients of all ages, including pediatrics and geriatrics, to identify communication disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized speech-language therapy plans tailored to each patient's needs, focusing on improving speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing functions.
- Collaborate closely with families, caregivers, educators, and healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive treatment approaches and effective communication strategies.
- Deliver therapy sessions through in-person settings or via telehealth platforms, adapting techniques to meet remote or in-clinic requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatment progress, and patient outcomes using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while adhering to confidentiality standards.
- Educate patients and their families on speech and language development, strategies for improvement, and home practice exercises to reinforce therapy goals.
- Stay current with advancements in speech-language pathology by participating in ongoing professional development and applying evidence-based practices.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with relevant credentials.
- Proven experience working with children in pediatric settings such as early intervention programs or schools is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in speech therapy techniques across diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities and speech impairments.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and the physiology of speech production necessary for accurate patient assessment and treatment planning.
- Experience implementing speech-language therapy plans for patients with various needs—pediatric populations, school-aged children, or geriatric patients—depending on the role focus.
- Familiarity with comprehensive speech and language evaluations and the ability to interpret assessment results effectively.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for documentation; telehealth experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and engage confidently with patients’ families.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple caseloads efficiently; adaptable to both clinic-based and remote therapy environments.
