Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Optometry Front Desk Associate to join our healthcare team. This role is vital in providing exceptional patient service and ensuring smooth clinic operations. The ideal candidate will have optometry experience, familiarity with EMR systems, and excellent communication abilities to serve our diverse patient population efficiently.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in and check-out processes with professionalism and courtesy
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing procedures
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software and multi-line phone systems
- Collect patient information, update medical records, and review documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting copays and explaining clinic policies
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and data security
- Facilitate communication between patients and clinical staff regarding appointment details or follow-up instructions
- Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies
- Handle phone etiquette professionally while managing a multi-line phone system to address patient inquiries efficiently
- Assist in verifying insurance benefits related to Medicare, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and other billing procedures
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment preferred; optometry office experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and health information management standards
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes including Medicare and other third-party payers
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10 key typing)
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and bilingual abilities are highly desirable
- Ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and data entry
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
