Overview
We are looking for an energetic and detail-oriented Transportation Supervisor to oversee and coordinate our transportation and logistics operations. In this role, you will manage daily distribution activities, supervise transportation staff, and ensure the efficient movement of goods across various channels. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and experienced in supply chain management, with a strong focus on process improvement and team leadership. Duties
- Supervise transportation planning and dispatching to ensure timely delivery of goods while maintaining compliance with safety standards.
- Oversee warehouse operations related to shipping, receiving, inventory control, and distribution activities.
- Manage fleet operations, including maintenance schedules, driver scheduling, and vehicle utilization to maximize efficiency.
- Implement process improvements using lean principles and continuous improvement strategies to streamline workflows.
- Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) partners for freight forwarding and shipping solutions.
- Monitor budget adherence, analyze profit & loss statements, and identify opportunities for cost savings within transportation functions.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, and warehouse management systems (WMS) for data-driven decision-making and operational oversight.
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse supervision, distribution operations, or logistics management with supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain management, transportation planning, demand planning, and inventory management.
- Familiarity with 3PL providers, freight forwarding (including NVOCC), procurement processes, and procurement systems like AS400 or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Demonstrated ability in process management, process improvement methodologies such as lean or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent managerial communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Skills in fleet management, shipping & receiving procedures, procurement experience, forklift operation knowledge, and dispatching are highly desirable.
