Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Plant Controller to oversee the financial operations of a manufacturing facility while serving as a strategic business partner to plant leadership. This role is responsible for cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, inventory analysis, and operational performance. The ideal candidate will leverage financial data to improve profitability, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support informed business decisions across the organization.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with operations, engineering, supply chain, and executive leadership to drive financial performance and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all plant accounting and cost accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, labor, material usage, overhead, and production variances to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and maintain product costing models, standard costs, and inventory valuations.
- Partner with operations leadership to identify and implement cost reduction initiatives that improve manufacturing efficiency and profitability.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses to support operational and strategic planning.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close activities, including account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Monitor inventory accuracy, manufacturing costs, and expense performance while ensuring strong financial controls.
- Provide financial guidance for new products, capital investments, pricing decisions, and business planning initiatives.
- Prepare management reports, financial dashboards, and KPI analysis for plant and executive leadership.
- Assist with cash forecasting and operational financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable financial and quality standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the plant accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Corporate Finance to support business objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting or finance experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in plant accounting, cost accounting, or manufacturing finance strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience analyzing manufacturing costs, labor, overhead, and production variances.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing accounting software is preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and general accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information effectively to both finance and operational teams.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for plant accounting personnel.
- Build strong partnerships with operational leaders to support financial and business objectives.
