Position Summary
Georgia Statewide Travel Safety Representative.
The Full-Time Safety Representative is responsible for promoting and enforcing a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment for all employees of the electrical contracting firm. This position serves as a liaison between management, the union, employees, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and collective bargaining agreements. The Safety Representative plays a critical role in reducing workplace hazards, preventing injuries, and fostering a strong safety culture on all job sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce compliance with OSHA standards, NFPA 70E, and company safety policies
- Conduct regular job site safety inspections and audits
- Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents
- Participate in safety planning, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and pre-task planning meetings
- Work collaboratively with management, foremen, and union representatives
- Coordinate safety training, toolbox talks, and certifications
- Maintain accurate safety records and documentation
- Assist with OSHA inspections and regulatory follow-up
- Promote continuous improvement of the company safety program
Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician status preferred
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction safety standards
- Ability to communicate effectively with union members and management
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to travel statewide and work full-time
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction
- NFPA 70E Electrical Safety
- First Aid / CPR / AED
- OSHA Authorized Trainer (preferred, not required)
Work Schedule
Full-time position with variable hours based on project needs
Physical Requirements
Ability to access active construction sites, climb, lift up to 50 lbs.,
and work in varying weather conditions
