American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II trauma center in Asheville, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and multiple certifications including ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS.

101-bed Emergency Department in a hospital setting
-
Patient ratios are typically 4:1 for medical patients, up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
-
Techs are available and work in cardiac monitoring, internal processing, and triage; unit clerks are present on days and nights
-
Equipment used includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
-
Documentation system is Cerner
-
Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
-
Every other weekend required; scheduling must meet departmental needs and block scheduling is not available
-
No floating outside of the ED, but must be willing to float to all sections within the ED
-
Active NC or Compact RN license required
-
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ED setting
-
Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits) strongly preferred
-
Required certifications (all must be obtained prior to start): ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI (or accepted equivalent such as SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA), and NIHSS

ENPC required within 90 days of hire
-
Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment
-
Cerner experience preferred
-
SSN (US only, no Canadian) and DOB required for consideration

One professional reference required (two required if from Florida or Missouri)
-
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible for this position

Previous HCA experience is preferred

The facility is a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center serving a highly diverse, multicultural community with over 120 languages spoken in the surrounding area

Candidates must demonstrate a teamwork mentality and the ability to coach and give real-time feedback

Patient experience standards include AIDET communication, respectful behavior, updated patient boards, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit
