Job Summary
Join Sonnier Traffic Control as a Traffic Control Flagger, where your role is vital in ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow around active construction sites and road closures. You will be responsible for directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic in accordance with safety protocols, helping to prevent accidents and maintain an efficient work environment. Duties
- Set up and operate traffic control devices such as cones, signs, and barricades to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely through construction zones.
- Direct traffic using clear hand signals or flagging equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards as well as MUTCD guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with construction crews, drivers, and pedestrians to provide instructions and updates on traffic conditions.
- Monitor the work zone for potential hazards or unsafe behaviors, reporting issues promptly to site supervisors.
- Assist with the setup and removal of temporary traffic control measures during different phases of construction projects.
- Ensure all traffic control activities adhere to safety guidelines, including proper manual handling and heavy lifting techniques when positioning equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of daily traffic control activities and report any incidents or concerns immediately.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in construction site roles, especially involving highway maintenance or utility locating.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely throughout the workday.
- Familiarity with construction standards and safety regulations is preferred.
- Strong communication skills for effective flagging signals and coordination with team members.
- Valid certification in flagging (preferred but not mandatory).
- Candidate must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
