Part-Time Door Host / Ticket Counter — The Woodshop Listening Room, Chattanooga, TN.
The Woodshop is looking for a part-time door host who loves live music, enjoys people, and understands that the first person a guest meets can set the tone for the entire night.
This is not just a “check names off a list” position. The door host is the first face of the room, the keeper of the flow, the person answering questions, helping guests find their seats, managing tickets, reading the room, and making sure the night starts smoothly before the first note is played.
We need someone who is organized, friendly, confident, tech-savvy, and calm under pressure. You should be comfortable using ticketing systems, iPads, Apple apps, guest lists, seating charts, and basic event tools. You also need to be reliable with money, able to open and close your shift, and willing to problem-solve without freezing up or disappearing when things get busy.
The right person loves music, respects artists, enjoys working with all ages, and understands that The Woodshop is a listening room first. Our guests include families, older music lovers, touring artists, regulars, and people who are here for a special night out. You should be warm, clear, and helpful without being passive, scattered, or overly casual.
This is a part-time position only. It is best for someone who wants a few consistent shifts in a music-forward environment, not someone looking for full-time hours or a low-effort side gig.
You should apply if you:
- Love live music and enjoy talking to people about it
- Have experience with hosting, events, ticketing, customer service, or front-of-house work
- Are comfortable with iPads, apps, websites, guest lists, and digital ticketing systems
- Can stay calm, kind, and clear when guests have questions
- Are reliable with money, time, and responsibilities
- Enjoy working with all ages
- Can stand for 2–3 hours per shift
- Have reliable transportation and show up on time
- Can problem-solve without needing constant supervision
- Can be stern, but politely handle guests concerns and requests
- Knows what shows are upcoming and the show schedule for the evening
- Love problem solving
- Can work with the owner/operators who are also the managers - this is a family business
Please do not apply if you:
- Do not care about live music
- Are not comfortable with technology
- Struggle with punctuality, communication, or follow-through
- Need full-time hours
- Get overwhelmed by guest questions or small changes
- Are uncomfortable working with families, older guests, or all-ages crowds
- Think “part-time” means “low commitment”
- Need to be told every single thing to do
- Are looking for a job where you can just sit back and coast
- Can't handle confused ticket buyers
- Don't like problem solving or thinking on your feet
The Woodshop is a small room with big standards. We are looking for someone who can make guests feel welcome, keep the night moving, and be part of what makes this place feel personal, professional, and special. This job also gets the perks of listening and enjoying live music for free while being paid to be there! If you love a wide variety of genres (blues to bluegrass) you'll find a lot about the job that makes you happy and even dance!
