Position Summary:
Reporting to the Facilities Director or designee, the Mobile Health Unit Driver will operate a mobile health vehicle equipped to provide medical services to the community. The Driver will be responsible for driving the mobile health unit from one location to another. The Driver is committed to the constant pursuit of organizational excellence and improving the health status of the community. The Driver must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interaction.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Drive the mobile health unit to specific locations in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
- Assist staff in setting up and break down of both the mobile health unit and clinical set up including loading and unloading of supplies, set up of tents, chairs, and signage.
- When needed, help to safely onboard and offboard patients.
- Monitor the inside of the vehicle after each visit to ensure that no personal items are left behind.
- Visually inspect the vehicle before beginning the day’s assigned route and at the end of their shift.
- Reports any mechanical issues with the vehicle such as brakes, steering, generator, or other issues.
- Maintains basic records of mileage.
- Responsible for managing the gas card and ensuring the vehicle has enough fuel at all times.
- Properly secure the mobile health unit at the end of the day.
- When not on mobile health unit duty, shuttle staff from satellite sites and parking lots to designated locations.
- Other duties and/or other locations as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Fluency in English required. Bilingual in Creole or Spanish preferred
- Must be 18 years or older with a valid MA Driver’s License.
- Must have a clean driving record (No driving violations within the last 3Years).
- Ability to complete the company training program for the mobile unit within the first 30 days of hire.
- Ability to drive safely.
- Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps
- Ability to maintain basic logs and records.
- Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Must be reliable and capable of working independently and remain calm in case of emergency.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds
- Hearing and vision abilities within required range to drive safely and communicate effectively with patients.
- Regular exposure to injuries and illness.
- Exposure to a variety of weather conditions.
- Occasional exposure to the risk of bloodborne diseases.
