Position Summary
The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce Director serves as the organization’s chief executive and primary representative, leading efforts to support local businesses, promote economic growth, and strengthen community engagement. The Director collaborates with business leaders, community stakeholders, and local government to drive membership growth, coordinate events and programs, and advance the Chamber’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Administration
- Manage daily operations of the Chamber office and programs
- Implement strategic goals for the area, with the aid of the Board of Directors, and its stakeholders
- Prepare annual budgets and oversee financial management
- Maintain Chamber records, membership databases, and operational policies
- Lead all Board meetings, committees, and general member meetings
Membership Development & Retention
- Recruit new Chamber members and maintain strong relationships with existing members
- Develop membership benefits and engagement opportunities
- Conduct outreach visits with local businesses and organizations
- Coordinate member communications, newsletters, and promotional efforts
- Respond to member inquiries and provide business support resources
Community & Economic Development
- Promote Andrew County as a welcoming place for businesses, residents, and visitors
- Collaborate with local government, schools, tourism groups, and economic development partners
- Support initiatives that encourage local investment and workforce development
- Advocate for business-friendly policies and community improvement projects
Event Planning & Marketing
- Organize Chamber-sponsored events, networking opportunities, ribbon cuttings, and community celebrations (Independence Day, monthly general meetings)
- Coordinate sponsorships, vendors, volunteers, and event logistics
- Develop and leverage Chamber marketing efforts, especially social media, website updates, advertising, and other public relations
- Develop promotional materials highlighting local businesses and community activities
Public Relations & Community Engagement
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Chamber, the area, and its constituents
- Build positive relationships with media outlets, civic organizations, and regional partners
- Represent the Chamber at public events and community functions (Great Northwest Days)
- Encourage collaboration among businesses and community stakeholders
Qualifications
- Experience in nonprofit management, business development, marketing, event planning, and/or community relations preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, various social media platforms, Facebook Group management, Canva, and basic financial management
- Experience working with boards, volunteers, or community organizations is a plus

Work Schedule & Environment

- Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications
