Job Overview
Personal Care Assistant , you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate and personalized care to individuals in their homes or community settings. Your primary responsibility will be to assist clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and well-being while promoting independence. This position requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about enhancing the quality of life for those in need, including seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
- Observe and report changes in clients’ health status and behavior.
- Medication Reminders
- Assist with mobility and transfers using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Perform basic medical tasks including taking vital signs, catheter care, and CPR when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
- Document patient care activities accurately in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Provide specialized care for clients with conditions such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, or developmental disabilities.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized care plans.
Skills
- Strong patient observation skills to monitor changes in health status.
- Experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation practices.
- Familiarity with hospice care principles and practices.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or special needs.
- Proficient in caregiving techniques including memory care, senior care, home health, and long-term care experience.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Competence in cooking healthy meals tailored to client dietary needs.
