Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Electrician to join our dynamic maritime team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing and hook-up of electrical systems on various marine vessels and equipment. Your expertise will ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical components critical to vessel performance and safety. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical systems, mechanical knowledge, and hands-on experience with marine or heavy equipment environments. Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, circuits, and systems aboard marine vessels using schematics and technical manuals.
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical components, including generators, lighting systems, navigation equipment, and control panels.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters to complete tasks accurately.
- Conduct rigging operations for electrical equipment installation and ensure proper mechanical assembly.
- Fabricate sheet metal enclosures and modify wiring harnesses as needed to meet operational specifications.
- Diagnose electrical faults using multimeters and other diagnostic tools; perform necessary repairs or replacements.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks involving electrical components or machinery using appropriate rigging techniques.
- Maintain detailed service records, update schematics, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects while adhering to quality standards.
- Support customer service efforts by providing technical guidance and ensuring vessel readiness.
Requirements
- Proven service technician experience with electrical systems in marine or heavy machinery environments.
- Strong understanding of schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to marine or industrial equipment.
- Military background or experience in similar disciplined environments is preferred.
- Extensive electrical experience combined with mechanical knowledge related to vessel maintenance.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, calipers, ohmmeters, welding tools, and heavy lifting techniques.
- Experience with rigging, fabrication of sheet metal parts, assembly processes, and vehicle maintenance is advantageous.
- Familiarity with mechanical systems such as sheet metal work and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to perform precision measurements using calipers and other instruments accurately.
- Excellent customer service skills coupled with strong communication abilities.
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures for marine vessels or similar complex machinery.
