Overview
Ramey Legal is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal with 1-3 years of hands-on experience to support our attorneys in a fast-paced family law practice. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing cases from intake through trial. This role requires strong drafting skills, client-facing professionalism, and the ability to independently manage deadlines and case files.
Requirements
· Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program (required)
· 1-3 years of paralegal experience, with a strong emphasis on family law
· Strong knowledge of family law procedures and California court rules
· Excellent drafting, organizational, and communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
· Professional, empathetic demeanor when working with clients in sensitive matters
· Proficiency with applications including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal case management software
· Ability to work independently while collaborating with attorneys and staff
Key Responsibilities
· Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents
· Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorneys
· Manage cases from intake through resolution, including tracking deadlines and case status
· Perform client intake, maintain ongoing client communication, and respond to client inquiries
· Prepare and organize case files, both physical and electronic
· Calendar court dates, deadlines, hearings, and trials; ensure compliance with all deadlines
· Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit preparation, witness lists, and trial binders
· File documents with the court, including e-filing through California courts
· Answer phones and communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
· Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
Preferred Skills
· Experience with contested family law matters
· Familiarity with San Luis Obispo County local rules and procedures
· Experience preparing financial disclosures and discovery responses
· Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a high-volume environment
Pay: $55,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
