The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, is seeking an Advocacy & Government Relations Specialist to lead and advance our advocacy efforts across the state. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about public policy, relationship building, and creating meaningful change for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
In this role, you will work closely with elected officials, community partners, Feeding America, and NH Food Bank leadership to promote policies that strengthen food security throughout New Hampshire.
What You'll Do
As the Advocacy & Government Relations Specialist, you will:
- Lead the NH Food Bank's advocacy strategy and annual policy priorities.
- Build and maintain relationships with federal, state, and local elected officials and their staff.
- Coordinate advocacy campaigns, including action alerts, letter-writing campaigns, call-in days, and grassroots initiatives.
- Represent the NH Food Bank at legislative meetings, coalition meetings, hearings, and advocacy events.
- Organize elected official visits to the NH Food Bank, partner agencies, school programs, and food distributions.
- Educate staff, volunteers, community organizations, and stakeholders on hunger issues and effective advocacy.
- Gather and share stories that highlight the impact of hunger across New Hampshire.
- Partner with the Marketing & Communications team to develop advocacy content for the website, email campaigns, and social media.
- Track advocacy efforts, legislative activity, government contacts, and reporting.
- Serve as the primary liaison with Feeding America's Government Relations Team.
- Prepare reports and documentation for grants, Feeding America, and organizational leadership.
What We're Looking For
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Government, or a related field preferred.
- Three or more years of experience in advocacy, government relations, public policy, nonprofit leadership, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local government processes.
- Familiarity with New Hampshire's legislative process is preferred.
- Experience working with elected officials, advocacy campaigns, or lobbying efforts is highly desirable.

Travel
This position requires approximately 50% travel, including meetings, trainings, legislative sessions, and events throughout New Hampshire, with occasional travel to Washington, D.C.
