Project Manager, Land Surveying
Patterson & Dewar Engineers is seeking an experienced Surveying Project Manager to support and manage land surveying projects from our Norcross office location. This role is responsible for coordinating survey projects, managing schedules and deliverables, preparing survey data and drawings, and serving as a liaison between field crews, engineers, clients, and regulatory agencies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong in survey processing and mapping, and able to manage multiple projects while ensuring quality and efficiency.

Essential FunctionsProject Management
- Manage multiple utility survey projects from kickoff through final deliverables.
- Coordinate field crews, office staff, and subcontractors (LiDAR, aerial mapping, geotechnical surveys, etc.).
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely completion.
- Communicate regularly with project managers, engineers, and clients.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Track project progress and ensure deliverables meet deadlines and quality standards.
Survey Data Processing & Deliverables
- Process field survey data using survey and CAD software.
- Prepare and review survey drawings, plats, exhibits, and legal descriptions.
- Ensure survey deliverables comply with applicable state and local regulations.
- Perform quality control reviews on survey data and final documents.
Technical Coordination
- Provide technical guidance to field crews regarding survey methodology and project requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering, planning, and construction teams.
- Interpret deeds, plats, easements, and right-of-way documents.
- Support boundary analysis and control network development.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned projects.
- Participate in project meetings and assist with proposal development when needed.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal staff.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
· LSIT certification (preferred but not required).
· Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience (preferred but not required).
· 6+ years of land surveying experience.
· Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar survey software.
· Strong understanding of survey principles, boundary law basics, and field data processing.
· Excellent organizational and communication skills.
· Experience managing survey projects and coordinating field crews.
· Knowledge of ALTA/NSPS surveys, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking.
· Experience working with utility, transportation, or land development projects.
· Experience working with LiDAR, aerial mapping, or drone survey data.
· Ability to communicate effectively and honestly, both written and verbal, to clients and colleagues
· Attention to safety - know how to work safely near live power and roadways
· Available to assist others as needed in a fast-paced customer driven environment
- Successful in completing tasks with little to no supervision
- Ability and willingness to travel and work extended hours when needed

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
