Job Description:
Superior Skilled Trades is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Structural Steel Fitter to join our fabrication team in Cocoa, FL!
PAY: $24.00 - $26.00/hr
HOURS: 40+ per week
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday | 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
START DATE: ASAP after interview
DURATION: Temp-to-Hire
Position Overview:
The Structural Steel Fitter is responsible for reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, laying out materials, fitting structural steel components, and preparing assemblies for welding according to customer specifications and company standards. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
- Lay out, fit, align, and assemble structural steel components according to specifications.
- Verify dimensions, squareness, and fit-up prior to welding.
- Use tape measures, levels, squares, and other measuring tools to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare materials by marking, cutting, grinding, and fitting components.
- Work closely with welders to ensure assemblies meet quality standards.
- Conduct visual inspections to verify proper fit-up and assembly.
- Safely operate overhead cranes, magnetic drills, grinders, and other fabrication equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance as required.
- Assist with other fabrication shop duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of structural steel fitting or steel fabrication experience.
- Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
- Proficient with tape measures and layout tools.
- Experience fitting structural steel components for welding.
- Experience operating overhead cranes preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to loud noise, airborne particles, grinding dust, and heavy equipment.
- Requires standing, bending, lifting, and working with steel materials throughout the shift.
- Must follow all PPE and safety requirements.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Must have reliable transportation to the job site.
