A growing healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support clinical operations within a specialized skilled nursing environment. This role is ideal for a compassionate nursing leader with experience caring for residents with complex behavioral health needs, psychiatric diagnoses, and medically complex conditions.
The ADON will work closely with nursing leadership and the interdisciplinary team to promote high-quality resident care, support nursing staff, and ensure compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing with daily clinical operations and nursing department oversight.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Monitor resident care plans, assessments, documentation, and clinical outcomes.
- Support management of residents with behavioral health needs, psychiatric diagnoses, and complex medical conditions.
- Assist with staff education, competency evaluations, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) activities.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and facility policies.
- Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health providers, therapy, social services, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Assist with surveys, audits, incident reporting, and clinical documentation review.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for the nursing team.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license preferred.
- Previous ADON, Nurse Manager, Unit Manager, or nursing leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in skilled nursing, behavioral health, psychiatric care, or complex patient populations strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations.
- Experience managing and supporting nursing teams.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, resident-centered environment.
