Penmac Staffing is hiring a dependable Machine Operator to support envelope manufacturing operations for a client facility in the Overland Park, Kansas area. This full-time role focuses on quality inspection, packing finished products, and assisting with machine operations to ensure production accuracy and efficiency. The Machine Operator position is ideal for candidates with manufacturing experience who enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced environment.
Machine Operator Responsibilities
- Verify envelope production meets job specifications and place approved samples on machines
- Inspect work from previous shifts for quality and proper packing
- Check box and carton counts on skids and report discrepancies immediately
- Remove, inspect, and pack finished envelopes, replacing defective products as needed
- Perform quality checks for adhesion, tears, splits, sizing, and print accuracy
- Label and mark cartons per instructions and apply date stamps for tracking
- Accurately record production data in machine work logs
- Assist with machine setup, clearing jams, and supporting adjustments
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including waste removal
- Follow safety procedures and participate in lean manufacturing initiatives
- Communicate effectively across shifts to ensure smooth transitions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements for the Machine Operator
- Ability to read and understand safety rules, work instructions, and manuals
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to read a ruler and perform accurate measurements
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 3 months of manufacturing experience and/or training preferred
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Stand for extended periods and perform repetitive hand and wrist movements
- Frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Work around moving machinery, airborne particles, heat, and loud noise
- Close vision, distance vision, and color recognition required
- Hearing protection is required
Pay & Schedule
- Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour plus a $1.50 per hour night shift differential
- Schedule: Full-time, rotating 12-hour shifts
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday (48 hours)
- Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday (36 hours)
- Includes various weekends
- Day and Night shifts available
