Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team on a 2-month contract assignment. The ideal candidate will have experience filling prescriptions, supporting pharmacists, working in a high-volume pharmacy environment, and preparing IV medications. IV certification is preferred.
This role works under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and plays an important part in ensuring accurate prescription processing, medication preparation, inventory management, and timely delivery support.
Responsibilities
- Fill prescriptions accurately for pharmacist verification.
- Prepare IV medications according to pharmacy standards and safety guidelines.
- Support pharmacists with prescription processing and daily pharmacy operations.
- Enter prescription and billing information into pharmacy computer systems.
- Assist with insurance billing and reimbursement-related processes.
- Prepackage medications for dispensing according to regulatory requirements.
- Assist pharmacists during final prescription verification processes, including medication identification and packaging after approval.
- Coordinate accurate and timely medication delivery preparation.
- Assist with inventory management, including:
- Receiving and organizing medication supplies.
- Rotating inventory based on expiration dates.
- Recording lot numbers and expiration information.
- Supporting physical inventory activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy work environment.
- Assist with equipment checks, including calibration, safety, and cleanliness requirements.
- Learn and operate complex automated dispensing systems.
- Perform additional pharmacy technician duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.
- Pharmacy technician experience in a retail, hospital, specialty, or mail-order pharmacy environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work scheduled shifts.
- Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.
Preferred:
- IV certification or sterile compounding experience.
- Experience with automated pharmacy dispensing systems.
