About the Opportunity
Claw Mark Cards is a growing sports card and collectibles business looking for the right person to join us at the ground level and help build something much bigger.
This is not a typical retail manager position.
We are looking for someone who wants to take ownership of a growing operation, contribute ideas, identify opportunities, improve the business, and grow alongside the company.
Initially, you will be the primary employee responsible for the day-to-day operation of the shop. As the business expands, this position will develop into a true management role with responsibility for hiring, training, scheduling, and managing additional employees.
We want someone who can eventually operate the shop with an owner’s mentality — someone who sees what needs to be done and takes action without having to be told every step.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is:
- Experienced in retail, management, sales, sports cards, collectibles, or a related business.
- Reliable, responsible, and capable of working independently.
- Comfortable making decisions and solving problems without constant supervision.
- Sales-driven and motivated to increase revenue.
- Organized and able to maintain a professional, clean, and efficient store.
- Creative and willing to develop new ideas for products, promotions, displays, events, and customer acquisition.
- Comfortable buying, selling, pricing, and researching products.
- Able to recognize opportunities and take initiative.
- Interested in building a career with a growing company, rather than simply filling a shift.
- Capable of eventually leading and managing a team.
Sports card and collectibles knowledge is strongly preferred.
We need someone who understands that collectibles are constantly changing and is willing to stay current on players, products, releases, market trends, pricing, and customer demand.
Primary Responsibilities
Store Operations
- Open, operate, and close the shop.
- Handle customer transactions and daily sales.
- Maintain accurate inventory and pricing.
- Keep showcases, bargain boxes, shelves, and displays organized and stocked.
- Maintain a clean, professional, customer-friendly environment.
- Handle incoming merchandise and new inventory.
- Monitor products that are selling quickly or sitting too long.
- Help protect inventory and minimize theft, loss, and mistakes.
Sales & Customer Experience
- Create a welcoming environment for collectors of all experience levels.
- Build relationships with regular customers.
- Help customers find products that fit their interests and budgets.
- Upsell and bundle products appropriately.
- Encourage repeat business.
- Help turn first-time customers into long-term Claw Mark Cards customers.
Sports Card & Collectibles Responsibilities
- Research card and collectible values.
- Understand recent sales and current market conditions.
- Assist with evaluating collections brought into the shop.
- Help determine appropriate buy and resale prices.
- Identify valuable, rare, overlooked, or highly desirable inventory.
- Stay informed on sports, players, rookies, new releases, grading, hobby trends, and market changes.
Growth & Business Development
A major part of this position is helping us grow the business, not simply maintain it.
The manager will be encouraged and expected to:
- Develop new sales ideas.
- Create promotions and special offers.
- Identify new products or categories we should carry.
- Improve store layouts and merchandising.
- Develop ways to move slow inventory.
- Create ideas for trade nights, giveaways, events, and promotions.
- Look for opportunities to attract new customers.
- Help expand our online and social media presence.
- Identify potential partnerships and local opportunities.
- Suggest improvements to systems and operations.
- Constantly look for ways to increase revenue and improve profitability.
We want someone who can come to ownership and say:
“I have an idea that I think can make us more money or improve the shop. Here’s how I think we should do it.”
That initiative will be highly valued.
Future Management Responsibilities
As Claw Mark Cards grows, this position will grow with it.
The person hired for this role will have the opportunity to become responsible for:
- Recruiting and interviewing employees.
- Making hiring recommendations.
- Training new employees.
- Building employee schedules.
- Delegating responsibilities.
- Managing employee performance.
- Establishing store procedures.
- Holding employees accountable to company standards.
- Helping create a strong company culture.
- Managing larger portions of the day-to-day business.
Our goal is to find someone now who has the ability to eventually lead the operation as it expands.
Experience
Preferred qualifications include:
- Previous retail management or supervisory experience.
- Sales experience.
- Sports card or collectibles experience.
- Experience buying and reselling merchandise.
- Knowledge of eBay sold listings, card grading, sports card products, and collectible pricing.
- Experience with point-of-sale and inventory systems.
- Experience managing employees.
We are willing to consider different backgrounds, but this is not intended to be an entry-level management position.
We are specifically looking for someone who is capable, experienced, confident, and ready to take responsibility.

Pay: $27,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
