Since 1982, CSMi has designed and manufactured computerized muscle testing and rehabilitation equipment used in hospitals, physical therapy clinics, athletic departments, and exercise physiology labs in more than 40 countries. Our HUMAC NORM (www.humacnorm.com) is the market-leading isokinetic dynamometer, backed by more than four decades of published research. We're a growing, profitable, family-owned company based in Stoughton, MA. We're expanding our product line and are looking for an experienced senior mechanical engineer who can support our growth.
The Opportunity
We're hiring an experienced senior mechanical engineer to develop new products and support the HUMAC NORM in production. You'll work cross-functionally with management, engineering, manufacturing, service, and outside partners. This is a role for someone who wants real ownership of both new product design engineering and manufacturing support in a small, fast-moving team where your work reaches the market.
New Product Development
- Design, document, and prototype new products
- Transfer new products to manufacturing
- Coordinate with external vendors and testing laboratories
- Maintain documentation to ISO 13485 standards
Continuing Engineering (HUMAC NORM)
- Work with manufacturing to identify and resolve design and production issues
- Release design and process updates to production
- Support Purchasing on supply-chain issues, including qualifying alternative components
- Work with Service to trend field issues and drive product improvements
Design & Process Scope
Our products span a wide range of disciplines, and this role touches all of them:
- Metals — machining, casting, sheet metal forming
- Electrical — motors, servo amplifiers, PCB assemblies, wire harnesses
- Plastics — vacuum forming
- Upholstery
- Coatings — powder coat, anodizing, hard coating
- Processes — design verification & validation, manufacturing transfer, root cause analysis, lean manufacturing, ISO 13485 compliance
Required
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience commercializing and manufacturing physical products
- Proficiency with SolidWorks
- Experience designing a new product and transferring it to production
Preferred
- Medical device experience in an ISO 13485 environment
- Familiarity with force measurement, servo motor control, or biomechanics instrumentation
- Experience working with suppliers
