Marine Construction Crew Member
Brandon Basar Construction is hiring 2–3 full-time team members immediately!
Pay: $16.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
We are looking for reliable, hardworking go-getters who take pride in their work and are ready to work hard every day. This is a hands-on position in marine construction, working on piers, docks, boat lifts, and other waterfront projects.
This is not a sit-down job. You will be working outdoors, lifting and moving materials, using tools and equipment, climbing, bending, and spending time in and around the water. The work is physically demanding and may require working in heat, cold, wind, rain, and other challenging weather conditions.
We need people who show up on time, work hard, learn quickly, and are willing to do whatever the job requires. We are looking for dependable workers who can stay productive without constant supervision and who take initiative when they see something that needs to be done.
Daily Duties & Responsibilities
Depending on the project, your day may include:
- Arriving at the designated location on time and helping load tools, materials, equipment, and supplies for the day's work
- Traveling with the crew to waterfront job sites
- Loading, unloading, carrying, and positioning heavy materials and equipment throughout the day
- Working from boats, barges, docks, piers, ladders, and other waterfront structures
- Assisting with the construction, repair, and installation of piers and docks
- Assisting with the installation, removal, and service of boat lifts and related equipment
- Measuring, cutting, drilling, fastening, and assembling marine construction materials
- Using hand tools, power tools, drills, saws, impact drivers, and other construction equipment
- Assisting with the installation of pilings, stringers, cross-ties, decking, brackets, hardware, and other marine structural components
- Assisting the crew with pile driving, framing, decking, hardware installation, and other marine construction tasks
- Digging, pulling, lifting, pushing, climbing, and performing other physically demanding work as required
- Assisting with the safe handling and installation of materials while working over or near the water
- Working safely around heavy equipment, boats, barges, power tools, and construction materials
- Keeping tools, equipment, and the job site clean, organized, and safe throughout the workday
- Removing construction debris and preparing equipment and materials for transport at the completion of the job
- Following directions, communicating with the crew, and stepping in wherever help is needed
- Staying productive throughout the workday and taking initiative without waiting to be told what to do
Experience & Training
Marine construction experience is not required. We are willing to train the right person on the job.
However, general construction experience or familiarity with working on a construction site is strongly preferred. Applicants should have a basic understanding of construction tools, materials, job-site safety, and how to work as part of a crew.
Experience or familiarity with the following is preferred:
- General construction or carpentry
- Framing or deck construction
- Marine construction or waterfront work
- Using hand and power tools
- Backing and maneuvering trailers
- Loading and securing equipment and materials on trailers
- Operating or working around heavy equipment
- Landscaping, excavation, or other equipment operation
- Working around boats, barges, docks, or waterfront structures
- Other skilled trades or physically demanding outdoor work
The ability to safely back a trailer and experience operating equipment such as skid steers, excavators, tractors, or other construction equipment is a strong plus.
We will provide on-the-job training for our specific marine construction methods, equipment, and procedures. We can teach the skills specific to marine construction, but we are looking for people who already bring reliability, a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the drive to work hard.
