Duties
- Prepare individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns with precision and attention to detail
- Assist clients in understanding tax obligations and provide guidance on deductions and credits
- Ensure all tax filings comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including complex areas such as estate planning and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs
- Review financial documents using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage to gather necessary data for accurate reporting
- Conduct thorough review of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis to support accurate tax reporting
- Support audit preparations by verifying client records and ensuring regulatory compliance accounting standards are met
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather additional information and clarify tax-related questions
Skills
- Strong knowledge of tax law, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Experience with accounting principles including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting standards
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or similar platforms
- Excellent analysis skills for financial report interpretation and financial statement preparation
- Ability to handle complex tax scenarios involving mergers & acquisitions or private equity transactions
- Effective client communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly and professionally
