The Organization:
The Wisco Project is Wisconsin’s largest, scrappiest progressive youth vote organization. We run large-scale organizing and digital programming to reach and mobilize young people across the state. In 2026, we will work to expand our youth coalitions, strengthen youth political power, and score progressive victories for young people across the state. This will be a crucial year for Wisconsin and we are in need of talented, dedicated staff ready to take on this challenge with us!
The Role
The Youth Communities Social Media Assistant is a contracted role that works closely with the Digital Engagement Managers and Youth Communities Organizer and creates authentic, peer-driven digital content designed to reach non-college 18–30 year olds. The assistant produces content: event recaps, day-in-the-life clips, peer testimonials, and behind-the-scenes moments that feels genuine and relatable to the target demographic, not overly polished or corporate.
What You'll Do
- Film and produce short-form digital content (event recaps, day-in-the-life clips, testimonials, behind-the-scenes footage)
- Attend events and outreach activities to capture authentic, in-the-moment content
- Edit and package content for platforms where non-college young adults spend time (e.g., Instagram, TikTok)
- Collaborate with peers and community members to source genuine testimonials and stories
- Work with the Digital Engagement Manager to align content with overall messaging and campaign goals
- Track content performance and engagement metrics to inform future content decisions
- Stay current on platform trends, formats, and best practices for reaching this demographic
Who You Are
- Experience creating digital content like filming, editing, or social media management
- A strong eye for what feels "authentic" vs. overly produced, especially for a young adult, non-college audience
- Comfortable being both behind and in front of the camera
- Familiar with short-form video editing tools/apps (e.g., CapCut, Premiere Rush, native platform editors)
- Self-motivated and able to turn around content quickly, especially around live events
- Available for evening/weekend hours to capture events as they happen
Pay: From $1,200.00 per month
