The Jewish News is seeking a motivated Advertising Sales Representative to help grow advertising revenue by developing relationships with local businesses and securing advertising placements in our newspapers, magazines, special publications, and community-focused print products.
This is an independent contractor opportunity ideal for a self-starter who enjoys networking, building relationships, and working with businesses to develop effective advertising solutions.
What You'll Do
- Develop relationships with current and prospective advertisers
- Prospect and secure new advertising clients
- Conduct outreach through networking, phone calls, email, and in-person meetings
- Present advertising opportunities and marketing solutions to local businesses
- Prepare proposals and advertising recommendations
- Work with clients to understand their marketing goals and recommend appropriate advertising options
- Maintain existing accounts while growing new business
- Collaborate with editorial and design staff to ensure client needs are met
- Meet established sales and revenue goals
Qualifications
- 2+ years of sales, marketing, advertising, fundraising, or business development experience preferred
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule
- Professional presentation and customer service skills
- Comfortable with networking and business development activities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Compensation & Schedule
- Independent Contractor (1099) position
- Compensation is commission-based with a contractual draw against commissions
- Flexible schedule
- Opportunity to build and manage your own client portfolio
- Local travel within the Hampton Roads area may be required for client meetings
