AccessNow Care is hiring a Medical Assistant to join our growing outpatient clinic in Portage, Michigan.
Our independently operated practice provides urgent care, primary care, occupational health, and virtual care services. We are looking for a dependable, motivated Medical Assistant who is comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient setting and enjoys being part of a collaborative clinical team.
Candidates with X-ray experience or training and/or DOT urine drug screen collection certification or experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Position Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant will support providers and patients throughout the clinical visit and assist with the daily operation of the clinic.
Primary duties may include:
- Rooming patients and obtaining medical histories
- Measuring and documenting vital signs
- Preparing patients for examinations and procedures
- Assisting Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and physicians with patient care
- Performing point-of-care testing and specimen collection
- Performing venipuncture and blood draws
- Administering medications and injections as permitted
- Performing EKGs and other routine clinical testing
- Preparing and maintaining examination and procedure rooms
- Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment
- Assisting with minor outpatient procedures
- Documenting patient information accurately in the electronic medical record
- Communicating with patients regarding testing, follow-up instructions, and provider recommendations
- Maintaining appropriate clinical supplies and inventory
- Following infection-control, OSHA, HIPAA, and clinic safety procedures
- Supporting front-office and patient-flow responsibilities when needed
X-Ray and Occupational Health Responsibilities
Depending on training, certification, and clinic needs, responsibilities may also include:
- Performing diagnostic X-rays within applicable Michigan requirements
- Preparing patients and equipment for radiographic procedures
- Following radiation safety and quality-control procedures
- Maintaining appropriate X-ray documentation and records
- Performing occupational health testing and screenings
- Conducting urine drug screen collections
- Performing DOT-regulated urine drug testing collections in accordance with applicable procedures and chain-of-custody requirements
- Completing required documentation and maintaining specimen integrity
- Assisting with employer-sponsored occupational health services
Required Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Medical Assistant training, certification, or equivalent outpatient clinical experience
- Current BLS certification or willingness to obtain
- Strong patient care and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy outpatient environment
- Attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
- Professional, dependable, and compassionate approach to patient care
- Ability to work collaboratively with providers and other clinic staff
Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- X-ray experience, training, or applicable certification
- Experience operating diagnostic X-ray equipment
- DOT urine specimen collector training/certification
- Experience performing DOT and non-DOT drug screen collections
- Occupational health experience
- Urgent care or primary care experience
- Phlebotomy experience
- Experience performing EKGs, injections, and point-of-care testing
Candidates who do not currently hold all preferred certifications may still be considered if they have strong clinical experience and are willing to complete additional training.
Work Schedule
- Full-time and part-time positions available
- Current clinic shift: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (weekend shifts vary)
- Weekday and weekend availability may be required based on clinic coverage needs
- Scheduling flexibility may be available
