Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) is required
- Experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments in educational settings
- Strong understanding of accessible instructional strategies, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Ability to manage an itinerant schedule and prioritize travel between multiple school sites
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with students, families, and fellow educators
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative vision services to students across multiple schools
- Conduct individual assessments, develop instructional plans, and implement specialized strategies based on student needs
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure curriculum is accessible and students are fully included
- Train staff and families on the use of adaptive equipment and instructional materials
- Maintain accurate documentation of services delivered, progress reports, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) requirements
- Serve as a resource in meetings and advocate for the needs of visually impaired students
