The Regional Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities across a portfolio of marina properties within a designated region. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with company policies while supporting marina operations leadership with actionable financial insights. The Regional Controller partners closely with marina managers and regional leadership to drive profitability, control costs, and support strategic growth across seasonal and year-round operations.

Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for assigned marinas

Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

Analyze operating results, identify trends, and provide recommendations to improve performance

Consolidate regional financial data for corporate reporting

Ensure proper revenue recognition for slip rentals, fuel sales, storage, service operations, and retail activities

Lead annual budgeting process for each marina within the region

Develop rolling forecasts and variance analyses
-
Partner with marina managers to set financial targets and monitor performance against budget

Evaluate seasonal fluctuations and adjust forecasts accordingly
-
Maintain and enforce internal controls across all marina operations

Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies

Oversee audits (internal and external) and address findings
-
Monitor cash handling procedures, including fuel dock sales, retail transactions, and daily deposits
-
Partner with Regional Directors and Marina Managers to support operational decision-making

Provide financial insights on occupancy rates, transient bookings, and ancillary revenue streams

Assist with pricing strategies for dockage, storage, and services
-
Evaluate capital improvement projects and ROI for marina upgrades
-
Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing functions
-
Ensure accurate tracking of customer accounts, leases, and contracts

Oversee collections, including delinquent slip rentals and service charges
-
Improve and standardize accounting processes across locations
-
Manage and mentor accounting staff within the region
-
Provide training and support for marina staff on financial procedures
-
Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Utilize marina management and accounting systems (e.g., DockMaster, Elite, Sage, NetSuite, or similar)

Identify opportunities for process automation and system enhancements

Ensure data integrity across financial and operational systems

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
-
5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role

Experience in multi-location operations (hospitality, marine, real estate, or retail industries preferred)

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting

Experience with seasonal or high-volume transaction environments

Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills

Proficiency in accounting software and Excel

Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders

Strong organizational and time management skills

Marina, boating, hospitality, or waterfront real estate experience

Familiarity with fuel inventory accounting and environmental compliance considerations
