J. Lynn Enterprises, LLC, is a private consulting firm that provides high-level, ultra-professional assistance to individuals transitioning from school-based programming to adult living. Client profiles include students who are bright, full of personality, and full of potential but who are challenged by complex cognitive, learning, and/or social profiles. Our mission is to provide assessment, planning, and individualized, community-based direct services to expand our clients' lives in the areas of vocation, avocation, education, and social integration.
All planning and support outcomes are heavily weighted by goals based on our comprehensive, professional evaluation. A multidisciplinary team is created for each client and guides the implementation of services from their respective perspectives. The strong therapeutic aspect of our comprehensive services is complemented by strategies that carefully track progress across all areas, build on strengths, and accommodate weaknesses.
We are seeking two therapeutic mentors to join our team in the Holyoke/Northampton, MA area. These professionals must have these qualifications:
· A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in psychology, counseling, special education, disability/behavioral sciences, or related fields.
· Clinical backgrounds and at least three years of proven experience working with individuals with some or all of the following disabilities: Autism (Level 1 and 2), PDA, cognitive and intellectual disabilities, and invisible disabilities (psychiatric, ADHD, anxiety, depression).
· Proven experience as an educator/instructor/mentor and the ability to work with a team and document progress, planning, curriculum development, and data collection methods.
· Genuine passion for the work of directly supporting individuals in creating pathways to adjust to and thrive in their careers and avocations, and relationships.
· Excellent verbal and writing skills; more than proficient with technology; excellent communication skills; experience working as part of a collaborative team.
· A willingness to work non-standardized hours, have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license; creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills, research and networking skills, strong organizational skills, and an ability to work independently.
· Sales/marketing skills to develop relevant opportunities that may advance the client's skills, relationships, networks, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
· Meeting with client three times per week or as needed, in the community or home settings to monitor client progress, with follow-up calls as appropriate.
Meet weekly (or more often as needed) with other team members to discuss progress, programmatic issues, and updates.
· Emergency support, on-call availability, and client transportation as needed.
· In collaboration with the team and family, assisting with the coordination and implementation of a comprehensive plan (creating short- and long-term client goal plans) addressing the client's educational, vocational, recreational, and social needs.
- Education plan: supporting the client's college plan, including executive functioning skills coaching, transportation, and guiding/coaching social adjustments.
- Vocational plan: assessment of vocational interests, short-term support for finding and keeping a job, and long-term planning towards career goals.
- Recreational plan: discovery of clients' interests and making connections to appropriate resources.
- Social: developing skills to pursue healthy behaviors and assistance in cultivating a positive support network.
- Independent living skills: monitoring of a budget, cooking, assistance with time management, and other necessary living skills as needed.
· Facilitating efficient communication between team, client, and family.
· Writing reports, including but not limited to daily program notes, progress updates, observations, assessments, etc.
· Reviewing past treatment records and training with present clinical providers.
· Recommending and defining what clinical or non-clinical services may be needed.
Communicate with team members in both formal (daily reports) and informal (phone calls, texts, etc.) settings in a timely manner.
Preferred candidates will have the ability to commit to a long-term role (at least 2 years), a concern for the safety and well-being of our clients, and, above all else, be honest, assertive, unafraid of challenges, an exceptional team player, and have a curious mind.
