Role Summary:
The Buyer is responsible for executing daily purchasing activities to ensure materials are available to support the production schedule and after-sales requirements.
This role manages purchase orders, monitors supplier delivery performance, and proactively resolves material shortages. The Buyer works closely with Inventory, Production, and the Purchasing Manager to align procurement activities with the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
This is an execution-focused role requiring strong attention to detail, urgency, and follow-through to maintain uninterrupted production flow.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchase Order Execution
- Create and issue purchase orders based on:
- MPS requirements
- Inventory levels
- Reorder points
- Ensure all POs include:
- Correct pricing
- Lead times
- Quantities
- Obtain supplier order confirmations and validate delivery dates
- Maintain accurate open PO log
Supplier Follow-Up & Expediting
- Monitor supplier delivery performance daily
- Proactively follow up on:
- Late orders
- At-risk deliveries
- Expedite critical materials to prevent production delays
- Communicate delays and risks to Supply Chain Manager and Production
Material Readiness for Production
- Review upcoming builds against:
- Open POs
- Inventory availability
- Identify shortages early and take corrective action
After-Sales & Service Support
- Process purchase requests for:
- Replacement parts
- Warranty components
- Service materials
- Prioritize urgent customer-related orders
- Coordinate with after-sales and inventory teams
ERP & Data Accuracy
- Maintain accurate purchase order data in ERP
- Update:
- Delivery dates
- Pricing
- Quantities
- Ensure alignment between:
- POs
- Inventory records
- Supplier confirmations
Supplier Communication
- Serve as primary day-to-day contact for assigned suppliers
- Communicate:
- Order requirements
- Changes in demand
- Delivery expectations
- Escalate issues to Supply Chain Manager when needed
Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with:
- Inventory – stock levels and material availability
- Production – build schedule and shortages
- ERP Operations – transaction and data accuracy
- Quality – supplier issues and defective materials
- After-Sales – urgent replacement needs
Qualifications:
Required:
- 2–5 years purchasing or supply chain experience
- Experience in manufacturing environment
- ERP experience (NetSuite, Odoo, SAP, etc.)
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Preferred:
- Experience in high-mix or configurable manufacturing
- Familiarity with electrical, cabinetry, or mechanical components
- Strong Excel skills
Physical & Work Environment:
- Regular presence on the manufacturing floor
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally
- Exposure to typical manufacturing environments (tools, electrical systems, vehicles)

- On-time PO placement
- Supplier on-time delivery (OTD)
- Number of shortages impacting production
- Expedite frequency
- PO accuracy (price, qty, timing)
- Open PO aging
Compensation:
-
$45,000.00 - $55,00.00 annually, depending on experience.
