Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable, hard-working Dishwasher / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. In this dual role, you will be the backbone of our back-of-house operations. Your time will be split between maintaining a spotless, organized dish station and assisting our culinary team with basic food prep (chopping veggies, portioning proteins, and preparing sauces).
The ideal candidate is fast on their feet, attentive to cleanliness, and eager to learn basic culinary skills in a fast-paced environment.
Core ResponsibilitiesDishwashing & Sanitation (Approx. 60%)
- Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils using both industrial dishwashers and manual three-compartment sinks.
- Ensure all clean items are dried completely and returned to their proper storage areas quickly so the line cooks always have what they need.
- Maintain a clean and safe dishwashing station by regularly changing dishwater, clearing traps, and wiping down counters.
- Bag and haul kitchen trash, recycling, and compost to external dumpsters throughout the shift.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors, walk-in coolers, and storage areas at the end of the night.
Food Preparation (Approx. 40%)
- Assist the culinary team with daily prep work following exact recipe guidelines and portion sizes.
- Wash, peel, chop, and slice vegetables and fruits.
- Measure, weigh, and portion out ingredients or proteins into prep containers.
- Label, date, and properly store all prepped items in compliance with food safety regulations (FIFO: First In, First Out).
- Keep prep tables clean, sanitized, and organized at all times.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in a restaurant kitchen is preferred, but we are willing to train anyone with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn.
- Stamina & Physical Strength: Ability to stand, walk, and bend for long periods (8+ hours) and lift/carry up to 50 lbs (like heavy stockpots or trash bags).
- Pace: Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure during peak rush hours.
- Teamwork: A positive attitude and willingness to jump in wherever the kitchen needs help.
- Availability: Flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Food Safety: Basic understanding of food hygiene practices (a Food Handler's card is a major plus, or must be obtained upon hiring).
