Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and in conjunction with the Medical staff, the Manager Retail Pharmacy Services is responsible for developing, implementing, assessing, marketing, and coordinating a Retail pharmacy operation and services designed to meet the needs of the healthcare providers and their patients. Supervises and coordinates all retail pharmacy activities. All functions are performed in keeping with continuous quality improvement standards. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values.
Principle Accountabilities:
1.Assume overall daily pharmacy management responsibilities. Responsible for developing, implementing, assessing, marketing, and coordinating a Retail pharmacy operation and services designed to meet the needs of the healthcare providers and their patients. Supervises and coordinates all retail pharmacy activities. Communicates and works with the Healthcare team to co-ordinate patient care and patient safety.
2.Actively works to improve and increase business revenues and opportunities for growth through an increase in prescriptions, revenues, and sales.
3.Is fiscally responsible for the retail pharmacy. Establishes and achieves financial budget set for the Retail Pharmacy.
a. Establishes and submits annual budget recommendations.
b. Keeps personnel at minimum but adequate level. c. Inventory control.
d. Monitors and reports department activity and expenses e. Reviews monthly Revenue and Expense report
4. Is legally responsible for the retail Pharmacy.
a. Maintains all licensure with Federal and State agencies
b. Ensures compliance with Federal and State agencies
c. Ensures record keeping in compliance with Federal and State agencies.
d. Compliance with the State Board of Pharmacy regulations and PIC licensure
5. Maintains retail computer system and pertinent technologies. Ability to generate and analyze revenue, A/R and third party reports. Reviews and resolves third party reimbursement issues. Ensures maximum payment for third party payors.
6. Works with the staff pharmacist and technicians to ensure retail pharmacy services are being performed at a high level. Ensures competency, staff education, quality improvement, and patient safety. Ensures an efficient and effective drug distribution system to ensure quality patient care. Able to review, process, monitor physician orders and patient medication profiles accurately and efficiently. Competent to proficiently answer physician and patient drug questions and provide patient counseling and education.
7. Interview, train, supervise and evaluate staff as required.
8. Performs other work duties as assigned.
1. Employee is required to sit, stand and walk frequently.
2. Employee must lift/carry light weight (20#) items and medium weight (50#) occasionally.
3. Employee is required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, lift from floor to waist and lift from waist to overhead occasionally. Employee is required to reach forward and reach overhead frequently.
4. For repetitive action, employee is required to perform simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.
5. Employee is continuously exposed to CRT terminal work; otherwise employee is exposed to normal office environment where there is no discomfort due to temperature changes, dust, noise and the like. (Occasionally: 1-33%, Frequently: 34-66%, Continuously: 67-100%) The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.
Must be a graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy
Masters degree or Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred
