Voice Teacher — Private and Group Lessons (Sun City)
About the role
We're looking for a skilled, personable voice teacher for a growing music school hosted at a well-established faith-based venue in Sun City. You'll teach private voice lessons to students of all ages — children through adults — in a dedicated teaching room with a piano and keyboard provided. Students have optional solo performance opportunities with a free accompanist, plus a pathway into a community choir.
This is an independent contractor position with an established, professionally run private studio, engaged by the Music Director. We handle recruitment, scheduling, billing, and admin — you focus entirely on teaching. The studio is directed by a conservatoire-trained pianist with a reputation for high standards and strong student outcomes, including national press coverage of student achievements.
Rate and schedule
- $35–40 per teaching hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Paid monthly as a 1099 contractor.
- Looking for someone who can commit through at least June 2027
What we're looking for
- Degree in voice, music, or music education — or equivalent professional training and experience
- Demonstrated experience teaching voice across a range of ages and levels
- Healthy, well-grounded vocal technique, and enough keyboard facility to lead simple warm-ups
- Warm, patient, professional manner with students and families
- Reliability above all — families build their week around these lessons
- Experience with church music and faith-based events preferred
- Fingerprint clearance card, or willingness to obtain one before the first lesson
Why this role
- Students are brought to you — no marketing, no chasing enquiries
- One consistent location, equipment and waiting room provided
- Accompanist provided for student performances
- Real growth potential as the school expands
- Managed by a working musician who understands what teaching actually involves
How to apply
Send your resume along with short written answers to these three questions:
- Describe a student you taught over an extended period — where they started and where they ended up.
- How do you approach the first six weeks with a complete beginner?
- Are you available on Tuesday afternoons from 2 PM?
Applications without answers to these questions won't be reviewed. Links to teaching or performance video are welcome but not required.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief phone call, followed by an in-person interview and a short demonstration lesson at the venue.
