The Director, Product Strategy, Innovation & Development will lead a defined physical consumer product category setting the vision, shaping the product roadmap, and guiding new products from early concept through commercialization.
You will combine consumer insight, market awareness, creativity, and commercial judgment to identify opportunities, make clear portfolio decisions, and develop products that stand out in the market.
Your Impact
- Lead the vision, strategy, and growth plan for an assigned product category.
- Build a multi-year product roadmap and innovation pipeline aligned with consumer needs, market trends, and customer opportunities.
- Identify emerging trends, whitespace opportunities, and new product concepts with strong market potential.
- Shape the portfolio, assortment, and product positioning to create a clear and compelling category offering.
- Evaluate concepts through a commercial lens, including pricing, cost, margin, volume, feasibility, and speed to market.
- Develop product briefs and business cases that turn opportunities into actionable development plans.
- Lead the product development process from concept and design through sourcing, testing, production, and launch.
- Partner with Design, Brand, Sales, Sourcing, Quality, Operations, and Finance to keep priorities aligned and products moving forward.
- Guide line reviews, concept reviews, development milestones, sample evaluations, and key product decisions.
- Review product performance and apply insights to improve, expand, reposition, or exit products.
- Lead and develop a team that values creativity, accountability, collaboration, and execution.
- Lead and develop the product team with clear expectations, strong accountability, and a bias for action.
- Influence executive decisions through concise recommendations, strong business judgment, and clear market insight.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of progressive experience in physical product strategy, innovation, product development, product management, portfolio management, or category management.
- Demonstrated success developing and launching consumer products from concept through commercialization.
- Experience leading the strategy and performance of a product category, portfolio, or line of business.
- Strong understanding of consumer behavior, product trends, competitive activity, and the retail landscape.
- Commercial experience evaluating pricing, cost, margin, profitability, and product performance.
- Proven people-leadership and team-development experience.
- Strong creative problem-solving, decision-making, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- The ability to communicate product vision and recommendations clearly to senior leaders and business partners.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within consumer products, toys, hardlines, lifestyle products, or another trend-driven retail category.
- Experience building product roadmaps, innovation pipelines, assortments, and financial business cases.
- A strong understanding of concept development, sourcing, manufacturing, and commercialization.
- A track record of balancing bold ideas with quality, cost, timing, and marketability.

Pay: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
